Our History

Our History

In the Spring of 2012, Ministers Ron and Pam Silas, Kevin and Naomi Allen, John and Josephine Flowers, Dion and Nichelle Divens, Estella Whitaker, Janice Wisdom, Sharon Morgan, Lacara Ward and others from various churches came together to have a small group Bible study at the Silas’ and Allen’s home with Minister Ron Silas as the primary teacher. The focus was the unadulterated, complete Word of God while studying and discussing the good news of Jesus the Christ. The model of the teaching was based on Acts 2:42-47.

In the Fall of 2014 guided by the Holy Spirit, Minister Ron Silas and others were concerned about the lost, the unchurched, the homeless, and other needs outside the church. So, we sought through prayer a ministry to guide our steps and give us the words to share our hope and joy in Jesus with others. With the help of the Lord, we applied for a nonprofit religious corporation 501(c)(3) status with the IRS and FTB to carry out this vision.

On March 24, 2015, by the grace and glory of God, AFC Ministries/Antelope, CA (Ambassadors for Christ) was birthed and recognized as a nonprofit religious organization. The original Board of Directors (BOD) members were: Minister Ron Silas, Minister Pamela Silas, Deacon John Flowers and his wife Josephine, Alicea Owens, Kevin and Naomi Allen, and Dion and Nichelle Divens (the creators of our AFC Ministries Logo).

As of January 2019, the BOD consisted of Pastor Ron Silas, Minister Pam Silas, Alicea Owens, Kevin and Naomi Allen, Josephine Flowers, Ryland and Minister Dianna Harris.

On May 7, 2019, at our monthly Board meeting, we completed the goal of the number of Board members needed (11) by nominating Charles Washington, James and Mertie Shelby to the board, and by unanimous vote, they were added on as Board members of AFC Ministries. In 2020 at our June board meeting Pastor Bryant Echols was added to the Board.

In the Fall of 2021, the Lord called four of our Board members, Kevin and Naomi Allen, Alicea Owens and Charles Washington away from serving at AFC Ministries. Their service along with Dion and Nichelle Divens (creators our AFC Logo, moved to Denver, CO.), Sharon Morgan, writer of our original bylaws establishing the foundational mission for our outreach ministry were invaluable. We would have never got off the ground without their contribution. They will be missed, and we thank God for all they did for His glory.

On February 28, 2022, Pastor Bryant Echols Sr. became the Director of Outreach Logistics, and will be assisted by his son Bryant Echols Jr (BJ) identifying serving our communities most vulnerable.

On July 21, 2022, at the AFC Ministries Board of Directors meeting, the board met to reorganize the number of members who will sit on the board. The Board voted unanimously to amend our bylaws reducing the board from 11 members to 7 members. The new Board are, Ron Silas Chairman, Pamela Silas Vice Chair, Dianna Harris, Ryland Harris, Josephine Flowers, Bryant Echols, and Katrina Scott.
